To be or not to be HAPPY

Change the end all and be all of all things in creation. The process of evolution is intriguing. Take for instance a single thought process. It can go a million ways; why then does it evolve in a particular direction. What is it that makes us decide that a particular course of action is the right one? Is experience or simple guess work?  Or are all thoughts random and as a result their pathway is also random. But if all thoughts are random there would be no deduction involved which is just not possible.

Understanding change is vital to accepting change. Change need not mean something negative. At times, change is vital to avoid stagnation or complacency. Change also signifies metamorphosis where things reach maturity which is truly a beautiful sight to behold- embryo to larva to pupa to imago.

The difference in morphology that change induces also signifies the achievement of important milestones required to advance to the next stage. These achievements are fundamental to our happiness. Meetings these milestones signify the successful transition to a higher level of being. Their side product is believing in one self. Believing that I CAN and I MAY therefore I SHALL is the mantra in realizing aspirations.

Ergo, being happy in life is simply understanding and accepting change ……

Avatar revisited!

The movie is pretty straight forward. Boy meets (alien) girl; falls in love with her. But he has a secret- he is a spy. She finds out and kicks him out. He does some death defying stunts to prove his love and reliability to her again. She forgives him. They fight a war. They win.  

In the movie moral relativism, thinly veiled political positions, betrayal and treason being carried out for the greater good form the major plot of the story. The movie is clichéd, predictable, politically upfront, yet the sheer quality of art is estimable. 

It is surprising to witness a movie like Avatar being such a big hit in the corporate hungry world of U.S.A. The corporate way of life has been depicted to be intrinsically pathologically insane. The human species is seen to be encapsulated within the vicious cycle of domination and control. The ‘good’ in the movie are very good while the bad are 100% bad. There are no shades to any of the personalities portrayed. They have no capacity for logical judgment or empathy. 

The lessons Cameron probably wants to bring to the viewer's notice is that like Pandora our planet may also choose to fight back against exploitation of natural resources, deforestation, pollution. As predicted by ecologists, it may be deadlier in the next 100 years than what is depicted in the movie.

What makes the ho-hum movie spectacular is the cutting edge special effects combined with an underdog theme. Fantasy runs amuck in Avatar and the unbelievable attention to detail in every frame of the movie is fabulous to behold.

The deal clincher of the movie along with the mind-blowing special effects is the story line of "good triumphing over evil". This gave the viewer the ‘feel good’ sensation which in turn helped rake in the goodies for Cameron.
